Easy Ways to Get Rid of Mold in Your Home
4. Hydrogen peroxide
Almost every household has a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in their medicine. Since hydrogen peroxide, just like vinegar has an antibacterial effect, it is also a great choice to get rid of mold. Use a spraying bottle with a 3% concentration and leave it on the mold for 10 minutes, then go back and scrub the area off.
5. Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is a great natural choice to kill mold. Mix 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil with 1 cup of water, put it in a spray bottle, and just spray it on the moldy area. This solution needs more time than the ones before, as you need to leave it on for an entire day before rubbing it off.
6. Grapefruit seed extract
Similarly to tea tree oil, grapefruit seed extract is a really helpful and absolutely natural way to kill mold in your home. Mix 2 spoons of grapefruit seed extract with 2 cups of water, put the mixture in a spraying bottle, and spray it on the problematic area. Wait about 1 minute before you wipe it off. The good thing about using grapefruit seed extract is that it leaves a nice smell afterward.
Other types of oils you could also try are lavender, clove, citrus, and eucalyptus.
7. Dry it!
There is never any better way to get rid of something than to prevent it. Depending on the size and the amount of moisture your home has, there are plenty of ways to keep it dry. You can use rice if the moisture is low, by keeping a plate full of rice. If the place and the moisture are more concerning, install a dehumidifier that can remove around 20 liters a day, this will also help to dry your clothes faster.
